Trans Day of Remembrance (TDoR) 2015

Please join us at the SF LGBT Community Center on the of 17th annual Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR) on Friday, November 20th, 2015.

Transgender Day of Remembrance is a genuine tribute to those who have lost their lives to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. This day serves a purpose to raise awareness of the threat of abuse and violence faced by the transgender community, as well as their families and friends.

Please join us for a panel discussion with ASPIDH ARCOISRIS TRANS, a transgender human rights organization, who will travel to the Bay Area and Los Angeles from El Salvador to share their experiences and raise awareness about their work to defend the human rights of the trans community in El Salvador.  The panel will be moderated by Isa Noyola, Program Manager at Transgender Law Center and will include District 9 Supervisor David Campos, and Theresa Sparks, Executive Director of the San Francisco Human Rights

San Francisco Housing Authority will open the public housing waitlist to homeless individuals and families for five days only starting January 13th, 2015 and ending January 18th, 2015! The Center is hosting drop-in hours to support community members in filling out the application.
TranscodeSF provides a free web programming class that runs weekly at the San Francisco LGBT Center, 1800 Market Street, San Francisco. TranscodeSF is a volunteer-run organization that helps trans and gender non-conforming folks gain computer programming and software engineering skills and employment in the technology industry.
Did you know that transgender job seekers face a high unemployment rate due to discrimination? Where I work, at the San Francisco LGBT Community Center, we believe that employment is a basic right for everyone, including trans and LGBQ-identified individuals.
Due to California’s recent ban on transgender exclusions in health insurance changes, insurance companies are starting to provide transition related care for trans* employees.
