News: It Is Not Too Late

Yesterday was incredibly disappointing and frustrating for many in our community. The fact is that the governor has not yet vetoed the bill. Here is something you can do to help right now. We are passing this message from our friends at Equality California to you.

Join Us!

Thom Lych
Executive Director

(Sacramento, CA, September 8, 2005) We must move quickly and with one voice tonight to ask Governor Schwarzenegger to re-think his position. He has not actually vetoed the bill yet because the bill hasn't even reached his desk. Our lives hang in the balance. Governor Schwarzenegger has the power to make history and secure protections for our families -- are you willing to help us TONIGHT?

Join Equality California at the State Capitol TONIGHT for a vigil and rally asking the Governor not to shut the door on civil rights and protections for tens of thousands of same-sex couples and their children.

* WHO: All fair-minded Californians in support of justice and equality for all and
in particular the children, seniors and couples impacted by this critical
civil rights bill

* WHEN: 4:30 -- 7 p.m. TONIGHT (Thursday, September 8th)

* WHERE: Gather outside EQCA's office on L Street and 11th Street (outside the Jumpstart Cafe) and we will walk to the Capitol's North steps together. (see below if you can't get to Sacramento)

* BRING: Candles, your commitment to having the Governor hear our voices and the dignity and respect that has turned hearts and minds before.

We must ask the Governor to give us an opportunity to hear our position, hear our stories, consider our lives and his role in either securing or denying protections for thousands of families.

JOIN US -- We have fought too hard to let the Governor act in haste without considering for our lives and the protection only he can provide to our families now!

If you can't make it to Sacramento tonight, please join Local Chapter leaders for a vigil at the Governor's District Offices closest to you from 4:30 -- 7 p.m. TONIGHT and keep making those calls and sending those emails -- LOVE IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR!
