Business Development

The Center is creating jobs by helping LGBT entrepreneurs start and grow businesses. We offer a variety of programs including one-on-one counseling, group workshops, and seminars, help accessing capital, and post-loan technical assistance.

One-On-One Counseling

It is our goal to serve as the nexus for LGBT entrepreneurs seeking access to the full spectrum of business assistance services. This includes access to capital, business management, accounting, record keeping, taxes, marketing, sales, public relations, and advertising.

Workshops

The Center holds a vast array of workshops to help LGBT people start, run, and grow their businesses. These workshops include topics like how to write a business plan, market a business, and explore financing alternatives for small businesses.

The LGBT Business Plan Loan Factory is free, five-week program for business owners and motivated entrepreneurs who need financing to start or grow their businesses. This program helps entrepreneurs understand what is involved in the loan application process, and it will feature leading experts who will review all of the elements of the loan package. Castro/Upper Market Business Attraction Program
The Castro is famous for its vibrant and visible LGBT community and its small, owner-operated businesses attracting thousands of tourists and visitors each year. But business vacancies are on the rise, and several major development projects will create more commercial business opportunities by adding tens of thousands of square feet of vacant commercial space in the Castro.

The Center has joined with others to launch a business attraction campaign to ensure the Castro's future as a diverse and thriving neighborhood. Our goal is to address the increasing vacancy rate in the CBD through attracting new businesses to the Castro/Upper Market neighborhood. For more information, download our information flyer.

Post-Loan Technical Assistance

Clients can also count on receiving post-loan technical assistance including site visits, review of financial statements, general management advice, and guidance with the creation of jobs.

"I just wanted to thank you for helping me get on the right track with my desire to own my own business! Thanks for helping me get through the ‘fear factor' of trying something new. Your genuine enthusiasm went a long way towards my believing that this is indeed possible!"
