Share Your Voice! Make San Francisco Safer for LGBTQI Communities

We have an exciting opportunity to help inform future violence prevention efforts for the LGBTQI community in San Francisco. Although San Francisco is home to diverse and vibrant Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex (LGBTQI) communities, many individuals within our communities continue to be affected by violence. The San Francisco Human Rights Commission wants to understand more about the types of violence affecting us, where we seek support when we experience violence, and what the City can do to keep us safer. We have been working with them, the San Francisco LGBT Center, and Learning for Action (LFA) to develop a survey that will help us gather this information.

The survey is available in English and in Spanish:

Spanish: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CFNRL9L

Talk to us:

Would you rather be interviewed? Your stories are important to us!  In addition to this community survey, we are also interviewing current clients about their experiences as well! If you’d like to schedule an interview, please contact Fresh! White (freshw@sfcenter.org) or Courtney Leung (courtneyl@sfcenter.org) with the subject line: LGBTQI Violence Assessment.

About the LGBTQI Community Safety Survey:

Are you tired of filling out surveys? We understand! We know that members of our community are often the subject of research, which can sometimes feel draining, especially when it does not inform change. The LGBTQI Safety Survey has been developed by community members, for community members, and provides an important opportunity for us to shape what the City knows about how we experience violence and what we think should be done to make us safer. The survey is long – we anticipate that it will take 15-30 minutes to complete, and it asks some questions that may be difficult to answer. We are only asking these questions because we need to understand more about you and your experiences to help the Human Rights Commission make San Francisco safer for our communities. For this reason, we hope you will take the time to complete the full survey. As a token of our appreciation we are offering some exciting raffle prizes to all community members who complete the survey. Please see the survey for details.

If you have any questions about the survey, please feel free to contact Jasmin Serim at Learning for Action Jasmin.Serim@learningforaction.com
