What
is SNAP?
SNAP
is the San Francisco Newcomers' Assistance Program.
SNAP
was created by gay and bisexual men, for other gay and bi men who
are new to San Francisco. If you've been here a couple days or a
few years, the city is full of opportunities to learn and grow.
We want to make sure that gay and bi men who are newcomers feel
welcomed, challenged, and aware of the many invaluable resources
available.
What
does SNAP offer?
Our "Buddy Program"
The chance to meet new people
and men who've lived in the city for a while. Buddies hang out
and get to know each other while attending movies, ballgames,
galleries, musical events, plays, SNAP social events, and any
number of other happenings in the city. Why Buddy up? Well, we've
learned that gay and bi men who feel connected to their neighbors
and community also take really good care of themselves and their
loved ones. We're pairing up new Buddies for our Buddy Program! Contact Anthony at (415) 865-5612
Referrals
and Individual Counseling
Have questions about the city? Want to check in with someone about
the guys you're meeting? The partying you're doing (or not?) Need
help finding that right job? The right apartment? We have staff
trained in harm reduction techniques to listen, get you hooked
up with helpful resources in town, and get you on track to a fruitful
life in San Francisco.
Workshops
and Forums
SNAP covers topics that are important to the wide diversity of
gay and bi men in the city. From physical health to communication
skills, from safe online hookups to seminars about personal credit,
we're doing our best to stay on the pulse of the community. But
we can't do it alone! We need your assistance in creating interesting,
engaging, and provocative community forums and workshops.
SNAP Talk! Is a free weekly group for gay/bi/trans men new to the City to talk about sex, jobs, dating, boyfriends, roommates, drugs, HIV/STDs, staying healthy and all the things that can happen in San Francisco. The group meets Thursdays, 7:00PM-8:30PM at the Center. SNAP Talk! is a collaboration of the Center and UCSF AIDS Health Project Reach program. Contact
