Meredith Hardesty

"Meredith Hardesty has been an absolute joy and inspiration to work with since I met her in February of 2015. She is a fighter in her personal life and fierce advocate in her community. Meredith has been called to volunteer not only in the Youth Program but throughout The Center. She has exceeded in any role she has been asked to fill. Whether it be, assisting youth staff in interviewing the right candidates for the Youth Program or advocating for resources at City Hall, Meredith is always willing to support The Center. Meredith is an amazing individual with a direct approach to life. I know I can speak on behalf of the Youth team by saying, Meredith we have the utmost respect and appreciation for you!”- Yvette Flanagan, Youth Program Coordinator

Interview with Volunteer of the Month - Meredith:

  • The Center: What is most memorable to you about your time at the Center?
  • Meredith: There are so many memorable moments I have had as an volunteer, but one of the best was when the Center did there volunteer appreciation party. What made it so memorable was when I got to see my fellow volunteers do drag.
  • The Center: Why should others volunteer with the Center?
  • Meredith: Other people should volunteer at the Center is because they want to. Also, being a part of the LGBT community and knowing that you can be that one person that made someone’s day better. But the Center is a great learning experience for people who may not know about all of the services San Francisco offers and it will be an enjoyable time.
  • The Center: What does volunteering in your community mean to you?
  • Meredith: Volunteering in my community has been a great experience. Starting as a youth program participant, I got to be involved in the issues that affect to youth, but now I have got to expand my involvement in my community, and have gotten to know great and inspiring people.
  • The Center: Thank you Meredith, so much for volunteering with us. I think your story will inspire other people to give back
