First-time Homebuyer Program

The Center will not be offering our homeownership workshop series in June 2017 due to a busy Pride Month and the HSF Housing Expo!  Please check back June 30th to register for our July workshops.  We apologize for any inconvenience.  If you need to register for a workshop sooner please visit www.homeownershipsf.org/workshops to find an agency with more availability.

The Center is a HUD-approved agency approved to offer a Homebuyer Education Certificate, which allows graduates to participate in affordable housing programs such as the down payment assistance programs and below market rate (BMR) ownership opportunities available through the San Francisco Mayor's Office of Housing and Community Development (MOHCD).

Getting a Homebuyer Education Certificate at the LGBT Center

To obtain this certificate, participants must attend either the Basics of Budgeting and Saving, or Managing Credit and Debt.  If you’re able, we recommend taking both classes as they have complementary information.  In addition, participants must take the Nuts and Bolts of Buying a Home; and receive two hours of one-on-one individual counseling. You can schedule a counseling appointment after you have completed the workshops by emailing Diana Freeburg at dianaf@sfcenter.org, or calling: (415) 865-5658

To register for the classes please visit links below:

(San Francisco, May 5, 2015)--At the Center we believe that creating and maintaining affordable housing is an essential part of supporting San Francisco’s vibrant and diverse LGBT communities. That’s why we are so excited about the construction happening right now at 1400 Mission Street which will provide 167 units of below market rate (BMR) housing for purchase.
